COSPLAY INVENTORY

Rikku (Final Fantasy X)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘05
  • Difficulty: Pretty Easy
  • Pieces: 14
  • Notes: My first costume, constructed mainly of pieces from Goodwill, sculpey clay, and hot glue. Not bad for a first attempt, and it certainly wasn’t the most difficult thing to create.

Lt. Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetal Alchemist)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘06
  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Pieces: 6
  • Notes: This was my first attempt at making something from a pattern, and a jacket may not have been the best starter item. Honestly, I am surprised it turned out at all, but I can no longer wear it because I hate the arms so much. The detailing was decent, though. My trim could use improvement. Lots of hot glue there. But all in all, it wasn’t a horrible costume. It is, however, my only costume to be officially retired.

Yuffie Kisaragi (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children/Kingdom Hearts 2)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘06
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Pieces: 11
  • Notes: This is probably one of my absolute favorite costumes. Not only was it super comfy, but I was happy with how it looked in just about every picture I saw, and I was very pleased with the craftsmanship. I thought it stood up very well to other Yuffies I’ve seen, and I was very proud to wear it.

Naminé (Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories/Kingdom Hearts 2)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘06
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 3
  • Notes: This is one of my easiest costumes. Despite the fact that the first draft of the dress was a disaster, the second attempt went smoothly. Plus I found the perfect sandals online and only had to alter them a bit when I found better references. Wearing it was less fun, though, due to lack of pictures and my hair being unruly.

Beatrix (Final Fantasy IX)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘07
  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Pieces: 9
  • Notes: This one looks good…if I don’t move. Ever. Wearing this at the convention was a messy disaster, and I have yet to go fix it. The belt paint never set, the obi came undone, the eyepatch was sticky, etc., etc. Pretty much the only thing I like about it now is the jacket…and the gloves/armor aren’t bad either.

Orgulla (Xenosaga: Episode II)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘07
  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Pieces: 11
  • Notes: My pride and joy. This is my most expensive costume, probably the best in terms of craftsmanship, and it’s also the least recognizable. I am proud of every thing about it, and I believe it does a lot of justice to the real character. I just wish people knew who she was!

Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing (Hellsing)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘07
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 8
  • Notes: Goodwill is my best friend. I found a beautiful black jacket for this. It’s not double-breasted, but I’m not picky. And I found pants that match, too. Plus I did the buttons on the glove cuffs, and I made the cravat, too. I like this costume; it’s simple, comfy, and I can wear my glasses with it.

Lady Tomoyo (Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE)

  • Debuted: N/A
  • Difficulty: Hard
  • Pieces: 7
  • Notes: I’d say this one was retired, but it never saw the light of day in the first place so I don’t think that term is applicable. This costume looks fine, but it’s impossible to wear due to an obscene restriction of movement and a skirt that’s already falling apart. It’s also horrendously difficult to put on. I may sell it…but I honestly think it’s of too poor craftsmanship to do so. The headdress isn’t bad, though.

Naminé, Queen of Naught (Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories/Kingdom Hearts 2)

  • Debuted: N/A
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 4
  • Notes: Based on BlackLillian’s design (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/42101042/?qo=48&q=by%3Ablacklillian&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps ), this is actually unfinished. It’s mostly done, and pretty much all of the work that’s completed was done in a day. However, I have yet to return to this project. Someday, perhaps.

Watanuki (xxxHolic)

  • Debuted: N/A
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 5
  • Notes: Not quite finished yet, but very close. This one was also mostly thanks to Goodwill. Some altering to make it look accurate, though. I like it! I actually kinda look like a boy! …A characteristic of my costumes which becomes very common very fast.

Phoenix Wright (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney)

  • Debuted: Otaku Omaha ‘08
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 8
  • Notes: The wig on this was a pain, but after a lot of trial and error, it turned out fairly well.  The rest of the costume was easy; I love Goodwill!  And Grace did a fabulous job with make up, making me look much more like a man.  …That sounds so bizarre.

Young Phoenix Wright (Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations)

  • Debuted: N/A
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 6
  • Notes: Also nearly finished, I still have the wig to go, and then I have to make his sick mask. But that’s all!

Near (Deathnote)

  • Debuted: Otaku Omaha ‘08
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Pieces: 5
  • Notes: Thiiiiis is a fun costume.  It was easy to make, well-known, and comfortable.  I can honestly say I love wearing this one…simply because it’s so COMFY.  It’s also simple.  Very nice.  :D

Princess Zelda (The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker)

  • Debuted: Otaku Omaha ‘08
  • Difficulty: Tricky
  • Pieces: 10
  • Notes: This one was a pain that was totally worth it.  I set out to make this costume period-accurate–I know Wind Waker is set in an ambiguous time period, but I figure they wouldn’t have velcro or zippers.  Thus, I set out to make this costume a little less cartoonish and a little more…well, let’s face it, laced up.  The shirt became a corset, the belt tied in back, and the skirts all laced up.  And yes, skirts.  There were three.  Yeah.  It was a lot of fun to do, though, and a good learning experience.  On top of that, it got a lot of attention AND I won an award!  First place in my division.  So I’m rather proud of this one.  …Now I just have to fix the parts that broke and make it more comfortable before I wear it again.  ^^;

Aeris Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children)

  • Debuted: AnimeIowa ‘08
  • Difficulty: Fairly difficult
  • Pieces: 8
  • Notes: This was kind of spur of the moment, but it turned out so well!  The jacket and dress were Goodwill-found, but I had the boots already and I made the gauntlets out of duct tape and craft foam.  The wig was a PAIN.  Don’t melt $40 wigs, I beg of you.  But when you can hide it with an appropriate accessory, it turns out alright.  :)  I loved wearing this one, I felt really pretty.  Definitely one for a reprise.

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)

  • Debuted: Barnes and Noble Harry Potter 7 Midnight Party
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Pieces: 8
  • Notes: Almost entirely Goodwill, save for the shoes, shirt and tie (I already had them), the Ravenclaw pin (Hot Topic), and the earrings (which I made out of clay).  And I suppose I just used a stick from outside for the wand.  It was super fun to wear, though, and I ended up winning the costume contest!  So that was fun.  ^^

Allen Walker (D. Gray Man)

  • Debuted: N/A
  • Difficulty: (so far) EXTREMELY difficult
  • Pieces: 10
  • Notes:  This one isn’t finished yet, to be honest.  It’s going to be delightful, though.  And by delightful, I mean HOT.  Warm, rather.  The coat is made of pleather and corduroy.  It’s going to be brutal.  But I’m looking forward to finishing it.
